Old Dominion University celebrated 60 years of independence this July!
A former division and college of William & Mary, Old Dominion became independent on July 1, 1962. Needing a new name, over 75 entries were submitted including Larchmont College, the University of Tidewater, & Patrick Henry College. On Aug 2, the Norfolk College of the Colleges of William & Mary became Old Dominion College in honor of Virginia's nickname.
