Threat Education Assessment & Management

Student of Concern

Old Dominion University is committed to preserving an environment that enables community members to reach their fullest potential. In responding to behaviors of concern, we aspire to protect the health, safety and welfare of the University community from violence, which is why TEAM was formed.

The Threat Education Assessment & Management team (TEAM) is a cross-functional, multidisciplinary group committed to identifying, evaluating and managing the risks associated with certain behaviors that may pose a threat to the campus community's safety.

 

T.E.A.M. Responsibilities

  • Educate the campus community to identify and report behaviors of concern
  • Evaluate referrals for risk of targeted violence or self-harm
  • Refer appropriately to university officials, mental health professionals, and/or law enforcement agencies
  • Develop and help implement preventative safety measures for potential target(s) of violence
  • Consult with the Monarch community about their safety concerns
  • Respond judiciously with recommended action for those who exhibit behaviors of concern
  • Policy & Procedure proposals, revisions, and recommendations that advance campus safety
