Make a CVC pledge and get free basketball tickets

By Joe Garvey

Old Dominion University faculty and staff now have an added incentive to turn in their pledges to the annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC).

Everyone who has made a donation before Dec. 3 will receive two tickets for the Dec. 5 ODU-William & Mary men's basketball game at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Of course, there are approximately 1,000 other good reasons to donate. That's the number of local, state, national and international organizations that benefit from CVC contributions. For more information about those groups, visit http://www.cvc.virginia.gov.

President John R. Broderick believes those who make a gift will receive something greater.

"It is often in the act of giving to a worthwhile cause that we receive the most joy and satisfaction," he said.

So far, 164 ODU employees have pledged $34,677, 43 percent the University's $80,000 goal.

The deadline for payroll-deduction gifts - online through E-Direct or using a paper pledge card - is Dec. 14.

For questions or more information, see individual department coordinators for instructions.
