Isaiah Lucas, a senior from Newport News, was recently elected as Old Dominion University's Student Government Association President for a second term.
Lucas will earn a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in public service affairs at the University's 130th Commencement Exercises on May 10 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Shortly after, Lucas will pursue a master's in higher-education leadership.
"As president, I plan to amplify the voice of students by using the foundation from everything I've accomplished during my presidency last year," Lucas said. "I am thrilled to serve ODU again."
Lucas will be joined by incoming Vice President Alexander Evans, a senior criminal justice major; Secretary Kayla Hill-Jones, a senior political science and interdisciplinary studies major; Treasurer Kevin Stephens, a senior political science major; and Speaker of the Senate Christopher Spellman, a senior who is double-majoring in leadership and interdisciplinary studies.
ODU's Student Government Association functions as a liaison between the student body and the administration by addressing student concerns. The organization promotes student activities as an enhancement to the overall learning experience, academic success and student life for the 24,000-plus students attending ODU.
