Mark Walsh is a Certified Records Manager and Certified Archivist, who has worked in Ontario and Manitoba (Canada), Maryland and Virginia. Before coming to Old Dominion University, Mark was the Corporate Records Manager for Norfolk Southern Corporation, and worked in Records Management at the Library of Virginia. He recently chaired task groups that revised Implementing the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles and Retention Management for Records and Information, two of ARMA International’s Technical Reports.

He is a recipient of the Exemplary Service Award (2015-16) from the Tidewater Chapter of ARMA International.

Mark recently had an article published by the International Council on Archives, in its journal "Comma," titled "The Disconnect Between Archival Descriptive Technique and Records Management Taxonomies" in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German and Spanish.

Mark holds a B.A. and M.A. in History, both from the University of Windsor. He studied Archival Administration and Records Management on exchange at Wayne State University (Detroit).

Volunteer efforts include sitting on the National Advisory Board of the James Monroe Memorial Foundation. He has chaired the Advocacy Committee of the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators, and been a mentor for both the Society of American Archivists and Association of Records Managers and Administrators.
