Students may also obtain enrollment verifications online (24/7) directly from the National Student Clearinghouse (not through LEO Online), where the following information is available for a small fee ($2.50):

  • Enrollment certificates for present and past enrollments
  • View all enrollment information filed with the Clearinghouse
  • View the student loan deferment notifications that the Clearinghouse has provided to your loan holders (lenders and guarantors)
  • View the proof(s) of enrollment that the Clearinghouse has provided to your health insurers and other providers of student services or products
  • View specific information about your student loans.

As part of our core service, Old Dominion University uses the National Student Clearinghouse to process loan deferment forms. Submit your deferment forms to the Office of the University Registrar by mail, fax, or e-mail.

You can check the status of your loan deferment by accessing the NSC website or contact the Clearinghouse at (703) 742-4200, Monday through Friday, 9am-7pm.

Time Status Definitions:

Full-time

  • Fall and Spring Terms: A minimum of 12 semester hours for undergraduates, and 9 semester hours for graduate students.
  • Summer Term: A minimum of 9 hours for undergraduates and 6 hours for graduate students.
  • Students registered for a Cooperative Education course (generally course numbers 367, 667, or 867), an internship (generally course numbers 368, 668, or 868), or a Practicum (generally course numbers 369, 669, or 869) will be reported as full-time status for the semester.
  • Doctoral students will be reported full time provided that they have advanced to candidacy and are registered for the 898/899 continuous enrollment course. The "Advancement to Candidacy (D9)" form is available here.

Half-time

  • Fall and Spring Terms: A minimum of 6 semester hours for undergraduates, and 4 semesters hours for graduate students.
  • Summer Term: A minimum of 5 semester hours for undergraduates, and 3 hours for graduate students.
  • Being classified half-time is important because, as a general rule, a student must be enrolled at least half-time to keep the repayment of student loans in deferment.

Effect of Audit:
Audit grades do not count toward full-time enrollment and could take you below the minimum hours required to maintain full-time or part-time status. Eligibility for financial aid, loans, insurance, and veterans benefits may be affected for those who fall below the minimum. Students should consult their financial aid counselor or lender for enrollment requirements.

DPOR Engineering Certification

The DPOR forms are available from the Engineering Department that the student is majoring in. Directions for completion and submission are on the form.

Completed forms are sent to the Registrar's Office (normally from the Engineering Department that the student is majoring in) and the Registrar's Office provides the degree awarded, major, and graduation date, the University Registrar's signature, and the University seal. Students should provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope as noted on the DPOR form.
