A student will be placed on academic warning for one semester when the student's cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 at the end of a semester, including summer sessions. A student on academic warning may not enroll in more than 15 credits per semester of attendance (no more than six credits in the summer sessions, and no more than one course in any single summer session) except under extenuating circumstances and with the permission of the dean or designee of the college in which the student is enrolled.
Old Dominion University is committed to assisting students in achieving their academic goals. Therefore, freshman students on academic warning are required to participate in a success program sponsored by University College in their next semester of attendance. Failure to complete the requirements of the success program will result in cancellation of registration for the next fall or spring semester. Students at the sophomore level and above are encouraged to participate in other University-sponsored activities.
A student on academic warning must achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 at the end of the next semester of attendance to be in good standing. Failure to achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 results in academic probation.
