Donors to this year's Old Dominion University Day of Giving fundraising campaign more than doubled the amount raised in 2021

A total of 823 donors from all over the country, London and Toronto gave $238,681 during the annual event, which was March 15. The average donation was $290.

In 2021, a record 1,183 donors contributed $116,371.

"Monarch Nation really answered the call and stepped up for student scholarships," said Harold Williams, ODU's director of annual giving.

This year, exclusive apparel featuring new designs from The Monarch Shop was available, with each sale directly supporting ODU scholarships. These items are still available for purchase.

For many students, as little as $1,000 can close the gap between resources they have and the cost of going to school.

The funds also help purchase needed equipment, the creation of endowments to help top students attend ODU and help retain and hire high-quality faculty.
