About this Program

Queer Studies examines the social, historical, and cultural construction of gender and sexuality, and the diverse experiences of LGBTQ+ people. This program will enable students to examine how these experiences are shaped by race, class, disability, and other identities.

Program Highlights

  • Students develop skills to work in fields that focus on gender and sexual diversity through analyzing contemporary debates within the field of queer studies and LGBTQ+ activism and understanding the histories of LGBTQ+ people.

  • Queer Studies complements any major as it prepares students to work with diverse populations and provides a strong understanding of the needs and issues relevant to LGBTQ+ communities.

  • Students must complete 12 credit hours in the minor.

  • Students entering the Minor program in Queer Studies should meet the minimum university admission requirements (Undergraduate Admission).
