Fort Norfolk

In the Summer of 2018, ODU students Iman Smallwood, Robbie Vandeberg, and Jordan Cottrell participated in the study abroad program Social Interest Documentary Filmmaking in Bali, Indonesia. They partnered with IDEP, a foundation running bio-sustainability programs based in Ubud to take this look at how permaculture and marketing can improve the lives of local farmers.


 

Uma

In May 2017, ODU students Jeremy Bates, Nadja Bangoura, and Savannah Harvey participated in the study abroad program Social Interest Documentary Filmmaking in Bali, Indonesia. They partnered with Tri Hita Karana, a foundation running bio-sustainability programs based in Ubud. There they discovered a varietal of heritage rice that is being introduced to Balinese farmers as a valid alternative to GMO rice.

Unik (Unique)

In May 2017, ODU students Nathaniel Villaire, Evie Etienne, and Elilta Abraham participated in the study abroad program Social Interest Documentary Filmmaking in Bali, Indonesia. They partnered with Sjaki-Tari-Us, a foundation running a school in Ubud Bali that supports mentally disabled children. Oki and Wayan are two students of the foundation who have shown major improvements.


 

Threads

In May 2017, ODU students Taylor Abreu, Colleen Ladrido and Dylan Johnson participated in the study abroad program Social Interest Documentary Filmmaking in Bali, Indonesia. They partnered with Threads of Life, an organization promoting the continuance of the craft of traditional Indonesian textile production to make this video.
