RMI Overview
In ODU's risk management and insurance courses, you'll learn trends and technologies that are disrupting the RMI world. Topics include the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, artificial intelligence, big data, drones, and cyber risks.
When are RMI courses typically offered?
- In-class means face-to-face in class room.
- Sync online means online with scheduled meeting times.
- Async online means online without scheduled meeting times.
Required RMI courses:
RMI 317: Principles of Risk Management and Insurance.
- Fall: In-class, Sync online, Async online.
- Winter: Sometimes offered. If so, Async online.
- Spring: In-class, Sync online, Async online.
- Summer: Typically offered. If so, Async online.
RMI 412: Property & Liability Insurance Company Operations. Fall, Async online
RMI 413: Risk Analysis and Control. Spring, Async online.

RMI Minor:
Most majors in the business school, and some majors outside the business school (Actuarial Math, Cybersecurity, Cyber Risk Management, Engineering Management, Sports Management) can add an RMI minor by taking just three additional courses:
