Report a Concern

The first recommended resource for a clarification on policy, regulation or law or reporting a concern is one’s supervisor. If a direct supervisor cannot serve as a resource, below are other suggested resources to assist you.

Resources Types of Compliance Concern
State Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline (Confidential and Anonymous)

Any potential institutional fraud, waste, or abuse such as:

  • Illegal or fraudulent conduct
  • Waste of funds
  • Abuse of state property or resources
  • Gross mismanagement
  • Gross neglect of duty
University Compliance Any potential ethical, regulatory, or university conduct violation / guidance on compliance related issues.
University Audit Any potential institutional fraud, waste, or abuse; financial violations; advice on developing risk mitigation strategies or internal controls.
Athletics Compliance Potential NCAA violations.
Environmental Health and Safety Concerns regarding potential employee and laboratory safety. Potential compliance violations of federal, state, and local environmental, occupational safety and health and public health laws and regulations.
Human Resources/Employee Relations Employment and labor law issues; policy violations; employee behavior and office morale; performance issues; hiring issues.
Institutional Equity & Diversity Harassment or discrimination.
ODU Police Department Criminal conduct; workplace violence; campus safety; Clery Act Crimes.
Research Compliance/Misconduct Potential research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or other practices that seriously deviate from those that are commonly accepted within the scientific community. Misconduct does not include honest error or differences in interpretations of data.
Risk Management Risk management services include loss prevention initiatives, claims, and incident management.
Threat Education Assessment Management Team (T.E.A.M.) Threat Education Assessment Management Team (T.E.A.M.) was developed to offer assistance to distressed individuals, connecting them to appropriate campus resources, and reporting concerning behavior to professionals on campus.
