I well remember the anxiety of waiting an entire year to complete the tenure and promotion process, the wait itself being exhausting, even though the intended outcome seemed evident. I also remember not wanting to eat that entire year because of the stress. Promotion to full professor was not as physically or mentally taxing for me; however, I do remember a surprise anniversary trip my husband announced to the site of our honeymoon, which I had to turn down in order to prepare my promotion package on time. He lost his deposit on the trip, and we never went back.

The staff of the Center for Faculty Development could not be prouder of faculty who were promoted during 2023-2024, along with those who were tenured and promoted. We recognize the struggle and sacrifice that goes into achieving tenure and/or promotion at a university, and the significant hurdles faculty must overcome to move up in rank. Nothing is easy or automatic, and the process can be long and arduous on those seeking tenure and/or promotion and on their partners, families and/or other important people in their lives. Congratulations on these hard-won achievements.
