Center for Quantitiative Fisheries Ecology:Research

More Information about this image

OEAS Ocean

At the Center for Quantitative Fisheries Ecology, we study the population dynamics of many marine species that are important to fisheries and conservation. Our work covers many areas of concern to fisheries science and extends to many geographical regions including the Western Atlantic, Eastern Atlantic, Southern Ocean, and the Norwegian Sea. Our main areas of study include otolith chemistry, survey design, ageing methods, nursery habitats, and analysis techniques.

To enhance our understanding of population dynamics we focus our efforts on utilization, evaluation, and innovation of quantitative methodologies with which fisheries scientists obtain vital rates and distribution data. We also conduct stock assessments, which provide fisheries managers with information that they use to manage fish stock.
