Student Enrollment, Engagement & Services Student Leadership Council (SSLC) seeks to provide perspective and insight to the Vice President of Student Engagement & Enrollment Services and the Division of Student Enrollment, Engagement & Services on matters of student importance.
SSLC provides an opportunity for information sharing and support among student leaders and administrators on campus.
SSLC Responsibilities
- Participate in monthly meetings with ODU administrators, focusing on the evaluation and enhancement of campus life and student resources.
- Serve on university committees, providing essential student perspectives on various institutional matters.
- Provide feedback on ideas, contribute input into decision making, and raise issues to be addressed.
- Share practical information about events and plans, as well as discussing topics of common importance to student leaders.
- Topics addressed in previous SSLC meetings include mental health, faculty-student interactions, meal exchanges, and ODUPD, to name a few.
- Applications open in August and close in September of each year.
- The application captures student information, asks questions about student experiences, and provides the option to upload a resume.
- SSLC is committed to selecting a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate student leaders, ensuring a broad representation of the student body.
- Prepares presentations and agendas for the monthly meetings.
- Facilitates monthly meetings.
- Collaborates with the Director of Special Projects for Student Engagement & Enrollment Services to refine ideas and presentations.
- Communicates with SSLC members throughout the academic year about meetings, events, and opportunities to serve Monarch Nation.
- SSLC Student Representative is one of three positions awarded through the Student Representative to the Board of Visitors application process.
