Instructional Design and Technology Students Irene Bal, Mia L. Knowles-Davis, Elisa Shaffer and Mitch Cumings, won 1st place in the AECT Distance Education Crystal Award competition.
The Crystal Award recognizes innovative and outstanding distance education course(s), modules, and lessons, including multimedia-based online courses or courses using innovative emerging technologies such as AI, 3D, and VR offered online. The students worked with Dr. Glaser in IDT 810 to create a metaverse titled "Culturally Relevant Pedagogy Museum Exhibit." They are presenting the metaverse and explaining its design at the AECT 2023 conference and receiving the Crystal Award on October 17, 2023.
The same students also received a Submission of Distinction in the AECT D&D Nova Southeastern Award for Instructional Design and Practice by a Graduate Student for the same project.
