The Minor in Recreational Therapy provides students with a foundational knowledge of the field of therapeutic recreation and its populations served. This minor enhances students’ understanding of the use of leisure-based interventions to enhance the quality of life of individuals with disabilities.

Students apply course concepts and gain practical skill through their participation in various structured hands-on and service-learning opportunities embedded within the Recreational Therapy curriculum.

Requirements
Complete a background check in RT 261 – Foundations of Recreational Therapy to ensure eligibility for service-learning experiences with youth. After completing RT 261 (minimum grade C-) students will meet with a recreational therapy faculty member to declare the minor.
