Transportation Engineers solve transportation problems affecting all modes of travel, with a focus on intelligent transportation systems, operation, management, and safety.

We focus on protecting and preserving the environment through biofuels, sustainability, pollution control, wastewater management and hydrology research. Water resources and hydrodynamics explores managing water and properties of water.

Geotechnical engineers study the behavior of earth materials, focusing on geotechnical earthquake engineering, geologic hazards, soil mechanics, foundation engineering and reinforced soil systems.

Coastal Engineers work at the interface between land and sea and in the open ocean and are skilled in understanding this dynamic natural environment.

Structural engineers research the structural integrity of built structures such as buildings and bridges. They design more resilient structures to withstand hazards such as earthquakes.
