The mission of the Wellness Institute and Research Center (WIRC) is to enhance the health and wellness of adults living in Hampton Roads through education, community wellness programs, fitness assessments, and research.

The WIRC is located in the Student Recreation Center Room 1006 and is outfitted with a variety of exercise equipment including treadmills, Concept II rowers, elliptical machines (standing and seated), stationary bikes, Cybex strength training machines, free weights, and other fitness equipment.

Exercise programs are available M-F for our members, and a Graduate Assistant is on staff to assist them with achieving their health and fitness goals. These programs also offer opportunities for students to receive practical experience complementary to their coursework.
