Modeled on the QEP style of workshop, the Boost Camp will run from Monday to Friday, from 9 to 4 each day, with an hour given each day for lunch, for 35 total hours of in person professional development. It will run from Monday, July 22nd to Friday, July 26th.

Participants will receive a $750 stipend along with Monarch Plus funds to serve as a lunch per diem for each day. There are limited spots available, half of the spots reserved the part-time faculty and the other half for full time faculty. In-person attendance for the full week is mandatory. The workshop will cover topics on pedagogy that prioritizes transfer and student success for ODU’s specific, and varied, student population. The focus will be on hands on syllabus and assignment design, with faculty leaving the week with a solid plan and materials for a Gen Ed course. As such, priority will be given to faculty that identify a specific General Education class they are interested in working on, with plans to teach that course in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. We are looking for faculty who are interested in innovating and learning new techniques and designing new assignments. In the application, you should also indicate if you have a self-identified area that you want to work on in our teaching. For instance, full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty that haven’t taught General Education much, or ever, here at ODU could be a wonderful match for this, as are any NTT or part-time faculty that currently teach General Education, but have maybe been frustrated with class results or confused in how to adapt to the new Student Learning Outcomes.
