Congrats to ODU Libraries and faculty from Library and Information Studies for recently receiving a grant geared to support student Monarchs interested in careers in library and information sciences! Thanks to a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Grant, which totals nearly $220,000, the Future Information Professionals (FIP) program will focus on students who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) and the development of a diverse workforce of librarians and archivists. Notably, the FIP program will provide 20 to 24 undergraduate students at ODU with coaching and financial support while introducing them to careers in librarianship and laying a foundation for success in graduate school through development of digital literacy skills.
