Rehearsals

ODUSO's regular rehearsals are in the Diehn Center for the Performing Arts, Rm. 1105 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-3:10pm. Students with a 3:00 class required for their major may be considered on an as-needed basis. Any additional required rehearsals are announced at the beginning of the semester.

Auditions

String auditions are held the first Monday of classes. Wind & Brass auditions are the first Tuesday of classes. All auditions will be conducted in person unless special accommodations are requested. Any new string, wind, and brass players interested in joining should contact Dr. Paul Sanho Kim so that an audition time can be scheduled.

Percussion members are selected per the recommendation of ODU's percussion faculty. Contact David Walker if you are interested in playing percussion with the orchestra.

Harp/Piano: Please contact Dr. Paul Sanho Kim if you are interested in playing harp or piano with the orchestra.

Mid-year auditions are considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact Dr. Paul Sanho Kim.

The orchestra's first meeting of the year is the first Thursday of classes in Diehn Rm. 1105, 1:30-3:10pm. The first rehearsal (with instruments) will be the following Tuesday, 1:30-3:10pm.

Audition Requirements

Woodwind, Brass, and String players are to prepare multiple excerpts for their audition. Updated excerpts for each new season should be posted by August 1. Please find excerpts and instructions from the links below.
