Hixon Student Gallery

The Hixon Student Gallery showcases work created by the students of the Art Department, Old Dominion University. It is an experimental space providing student artists with an opportunity to research and explore major themes in contemporary culture.

Student exhibitions lasts two weeks and include an opening reception on a Thursday. Everyone is invited to the reception and to view the installations during the Gallery opening hours:

  • Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday-Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The Hixon Gallery is part of the Art Department buildings and is located in the James A. Hixon Art Studio Building, 1029 W 47th ST, Norfolk, VA 23508, room 2002.

The Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries exhibit works by nationally and internationally recognized self-taught artists, contemporary artists working in all media, and local and regional artists connected with Old Dominion University.
