ODU Mobile ID

Mobile ID is accessible through the GET Mobile app, a user-friendly platform that allows smartphone users to digitally download their IDs into their mobile wallets. Simply download the GET Mobile app and add your ID to your mobile wallet today. Effective immediately, Monarchs can use a mobile device to access card services including:

The GET Mobile app is available for download through Apple and Android app stores. Users should input their Monarch ID username and password and then access their mobile ID through their mobile wallet. Monarch ID users may also visit the Monarch Card and Business Services office for assistance with setting up their Mobile ID.

Does this replace my physical ID card? 
No, you must always have your physical ID with you on campus.

Please note:
If you choose to use Mobile ID, using Mobile ID will deactivate the services listed above on your physical ID. However, your physical ID will still be needed for vending machines, attending classes, accessing other ODU events, and anywhere else the Mobile ID is not used.

For a seamless Mobile ID experience, it is important to ensure Near Field Communications (NFC) is activated in your device settings. See instructions below:

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to Connected Devices
  • Select Connection Preferences
  • Click NFC and turn it on

Please Note: It may be necessary to explore different orientations for your phone until a successful scan is achieved when utilizing your mobile wallet to scan your Mobile ID for access. Familiarize yourself with the optimal positioning for the scan sensor as it can differ across Android models.

Monarch ID Card in Apple Wallet is an initiative of the Monarch Card & Business Services office whereby your iPhone and Apple Watch can take the functionality of your physical ID Card. Anywhere you can swipe/tap a card, you will be able to use your iPhone or Apple Watch.

  1. iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or later running the latest version of iOS

  • Go to the App Store on your phone and get the GET Mobile app

  • Login with the user ID and password

From the App Store on your Apple device, search “GET CBORD.” The app is called “GET Mobile” in the App Store. Download the app on your iPhone.

The Series Number for your Apple Watch can be found on the back of the Watch. Note: Series 0 Apple Watch is not eligible for this program.

You can use your student ID card on up to two devices (one iPhone and one Apple Watch) that are signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID

You should use Find My iPhone to suspend or deactivate your Monarch ID Card in Apple Wallet.  Instructions for lost/found Apple devices and Find My iPhone can be found here.

During Monarch Card & Business Services office hours (8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.), contact the Monarch Card & Business Services office to deactivate the card in the Wallet for that device.

Additionally, you can reactivate a found device that was suspended here. If the device was deactivated by Monarch Card & Business Services office, you should call the office during business hours for reactivation.

First, you should remove your pass from the old device in the Apple Wallet app. Once your old pass is removed, you can add your pass to the new device by using the GET app.

When using Express Mode (iPhone 6s or later), your Monarch ID Card will not be displayed with other cards in Apple Wallet for security reasons.

If you are using Express Mode, you do not have to do anything.

If you are not using Express Mode, you will have to authenticate each time you access your phone. This is a user security preference.

Note: Express Mode is turned on by default.

On iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and more recent, Express Mode with power reserve is available for up to five hours after the device’s battery needs to be charged.

Monarch ID Card in Apple Wallet can be used even if the iPhone or Apple Watch does not have network connectivity, as the Monarch ID Card is stored on your device.

Your Monarch ID Card on your Android device works anywhere you use your physical Monarch ID Card. You can add your Monarch ID Card to your Android device using the GET app.

Individuals must be an active OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY student, staff or faculty member. Additionally, individuals must have a profile picture on file with the Monarch Card & Business Services office.

Your Monarch ID Card can be used on one device. You cannot use the mobile Monarch ID Card on both iOS and Android devices at the same time. Monarch ID Card credentials are supported on any NFC-enabled Android phone running Lollipop 5.0 or higher (most phones sold in the past five years). Mobile Monarch ID Cards on Android wearables are not supported at this time.

By default, your Android Monarch ID Card can be used without unlocking your phone, but the phone must be powered on and “awake” (display active). You can change this setting by turning on “require device unlock for use. “This allows your Monarch ID Card to be used only when the phone is unlocked by accessing your Monarch ID Card in the Google Pay Wallet.

Your Android phone must have battery power, be powered on and “awake” to use the Monarch ID Card.

You can use your Monarch ID Card via Google Pay on one Android phone device using the same credentials. I am not able to add my Monarch ID Card to Google Pay.
