Graduate Administrators Workshop

The Graduate Administrators' Workshop provides the opportunity for the Old Dominion University Graduate School to convey information relating to new and/or changing policies and procedures as they relate to graduate program administration. It also allows graduate program directors, faculty, and staff to ask questions and address issues related to their graduate program. Graduate Research Achievement Day

The Graduate Research Achievement Day gives graduate students the opportunity to share their research, through poster presentations, with the campus community. Click the contact button if you're interested in attending the next research achievement day.

When is it offered?

Once a year during the spring semester.

Who should participate?

Any master's or doctoral student may be nominated.



Graduate Teaching Assistant Instructors Institute (GTAI) Institute

This two-day training is for graduate students who will be serving as Graduate Teaching Assistants or Graduate Teaching Assistant Instructors in the upcoming academic year at Old Dominion University. All GTA instructors are required to take and successfully pass the Institute to receive a GTA position. Click the contact button if you have any questions.

When is it offered?

GTAI is offered at the beginning of the spring and fall semesters.

Who should participate?

All GTAs, GRAs, and GAAs are expected to attend both days of the GTAI.



New Graduate Administrators’ Orientation

The New Graduate Administrators' Orientation provides the opportunity for the Old Dominion University Graduate School to help prepare new graduate administrators for their new roles. The focus is on policies and procedures as they relate to graduate education, the catalog preparation cycle, the admissions process, and updates from the Office of the University Registrar. There is also a panel discussion which allows participants to ask questions of current graduate program directors. Click the contact button if you're interested in attending the next orientation.

It is offered once a year during the fall semester.

Associate Deans, Graduate Program Directors and Coordinators, and graduate program administration staff.



Brown Bag Series

The Graduate School hosts Brown Bag series events to talk about new policies, processes, and procedures and to give graduate administrators an opportunity to ask questions in an informal setting. Recent topics have included Electronic Theses and Dissertations, the Graduate Program Director job description, and graduate student recruitment. When is it offered?

Brown Bag Series events are offered several times a year, usually two or three per semester. They are always scheduled during activity hour. Graduate program administrators are invited and the events are posted on University Announcements and advertised on the Graduate School's website.
