If you are dealing with holds on your student account, it’s important to understand the types of holds and the steps needed to resolve it. Holds can prevent you from registering for classes, receiving transcripts, or obtaining a diploma. Here’s a general guide to understanding and resolving holds at ODU.
Steps to Take
- Financial Hold: This occurs when there is an outstanding balance on your account. It requires you to settle any unpaid tuition or fees and some of them prevent registration.
- Advising Hold: Often, this hold requires you to meet with an academic advisor or graduate program director (GPD) to discuss your academic plan before enrolling in classes.
- Health Services Hold: This might mean you need to submit missing immunization records or other health-related documentation.
- Library Hold: If you have overdue books or unpaid fines, you will need to return items or pay fees.
- Address holds as soon as possible to ensure they do not interfere with your class registration or access to university services.
- Address holds as soon as possible to ensure they do not interfere with your class registration or access to university services.
- After you’ve taken the necessary steps, check your student account to ensure the hold has been lifted. If not, follow up with the appropriate department.
