Weekly Public Planetarium Shows


Love space and enjoy stargazing? Ever wondered what it would be like to fall into a black hole? Come explore these mysteries at our weekly planetarium shows, perfect for families and recommended for ages 4+.

Shows typically last an hour and start with a full-dome movie. Each movie lasts about 20-25 minutes. Afterwards, we'll show the night sky including planets & constellations, fly through our solar system and visit other planets, traverse the Milkyway, and tour the Universe.

$4 per ticket. No affiliation with ODU is required to join the fun.

Movie Nights


Bad Movie Night: hosted on the first Friday of each month, features classic sci-fi films from the 1950s and 60s that are so bad, they're good. The evening kicks off with a trivia contest, followed by the film screening. $4 per ticket.

NARO Minded: a series of free public screenings of cult favorites and new releases brought to you by the Planetarium and ODU Libraries. In 2020, Ghent's Naro Video made the tough decision to close it's doors. In doing so, they donated over 42,000 movies to the ODU Libraries. (Read the article.
