The Division of Research and Economic Development is dedicated to supporting Old Dominion University researchers. Together, we address challenges and develop solutions to improve daily life in Hampton Roads, throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation and world.
The Division focuses on fostering faculty research collaborations across ODU, with other universities, government laboratories and private industry. We support student engagement in faculty-led research, create intellectual capital, and serve as an engine for economic growth and prosperity.
Collectively, ODU’s researchers were responsible for $95 million in sponsored research and development expenditures in fiscal year 2024. Over one-quarter of these expenditures are associated with the new Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences - the Commonwealth's largest, most comprehensive academic health sciences center.
On behalf of the Division, we look forward to working with you.
– Dr. Ken Fridley, Vice President for the Division of Research and Economic Development
