Pre-Clinical Studies Advising

The Pre-Clinical Studies major provides clear paths for students interested in graduate health professions with flexibility to select courses depending on the anticipated future graduate degree in medical or diagnostic professions. This major will prepare individuals to enter graduate programs which focus on patient care and diagnostics across the lifespan.


  • The Pre-Clinical Studies major requires a core set of coursework, including topics such as the US healthcare system, health informatics, health equity, and health services research.

  • Students will choose 30 credits in science coursework from options in biology, chemistry, cytology, exercise kinesiology and physiology, medical laboratory science, molecular diagnostics, nutrition, physics and psychology.

  • This diverse set of health and science-based coursework allows students to pursue a wide variety of health-related interests while completing requirements needed to apply to professional health graduate programs in medicine, research, and diagnostic professions.

Process to Declare this Major

Students must meet specific prerequisite requirements before they are eligible to officially declare the major. Students are Intended Majors until they meet program prerequisite requirements. Students who have met the requirements to declare a major will be referred to the program by their assigned academic advisor.
