Our Strategic Communication concentration will build your knowledge of communication and apply it to make a difference in business settings and in your community. Students work hands-on with organizations to design and shape their approach to communication, from social media campaigns to event design. We focus on nonprofit organizations, but classes also cover for-profit companies, and the critical career skills learned easily transition into in-demand positions with almost any company in the world.
Students in Strategic Communication will gain hands-on experience to prepare them to work as professionals in the field. Unlike many other programs, we focus on real-world projects. You'll work with clients in the community to make a real impact as you grow your professional experience and network.
Among many professional skills gained, students will learn how to:
- Pitch and present ideas to a client or a boss
- Write and create media, ranging from social media to graphics to film
- Conduct meaningful research to generate strategy and objectives for a client
- Use industry standard analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Cision, and Meltwater
- Effectively reach out to the media and pitch a story or program
